Horsing Around

This is the head of a horse. I just made it.

Well, I didn't actually MAKE the horse- I altered a rubber horse that I found at a thrift store. It is part of a shadowbox I'm working on for the Thames Art Gallery's newest Community Arts Initiative, called Call and Response. I'm responding to a sketch of a cowboy who is holding a saddle (that work is in the permanent collection at the Thames Art Gallery). This horse is part of my response.

So far, the working title is "Hey, Cowboy- need a ride?" Yes, Miss Horse has a Medusa thing going, which was deliberate.

I cut a hole in her side, which you can't see. Inside, I placed a little naked doll. Her two front hoofs are standing in Barbie cowboy boots, and she has a crow foot for a tail.

I'll post more pictures when I'm done.
