Gone Global

Wow- my artwork was published in the December 2007 (#10) issue of Art and Life magazine!!
I was pretty pleased with myself when Teesha Moore sent me my copy. She even sent a copy to my mom! I may have had my 15 minutes of Fame!
Teesha Moore is an artist based outside of Seattle and, in addition to hosting bi-annual art workshops (which I NEED to attend someday soon), she publishes a fabulous magazine called Art and Life. I've been a subscriber for a few years, ever since I found her through a link on Elizabeth McGrath's website. I LOVE the art of Elizabeth McGrath- gothic assemblage at its best.
Teesha's journalling is eye candy and her use of colours is nothing short of inspiring. In December's issue, she journals about her trip to Japan. In addition to her journalling pages, she features work from other artists in her magazine. I am honoured to have been included. She also has a website from which she and her husband Tracy (another cool artist) sell extremely funky stamps and papers and more.
If you like journalling, Teesha Moore is the door to Mecca.

What pieces of my artwork did she feature? 1914, Good and Evil, Take a Gamble, Hello Dollface, and Wedding Circus.
And she chose a quotation to go with my images, which I thought was interesting....
"The character we exhibit in the latter half of our life need not necessarily be, though it often is, our original character, developed further, dried up, exaggerated, or diminished: it can be its exact opposite, like a suit worn inside out." - Marcel Proust
I was just talking about this very idea with my friend Phyllis. We decided that people tend to get lost on their way through Life, and if you were to go back and find what you wanted to do when you were a kid, and try to find a path in that vein that you could follow, that you could reconnect with yourself. For example, I wanted to be an artist until I was 8, and then I wanted to be a lawyer. I started with the artist first. So I entered an art exhibition in December of 2006 that ended up leading to this blog. I am teaching art classes at the Cultural Centre. It is a part of me that I have reclaimed, and it feels good. It is something I am doing for ME.
I did not have this conversation with Teesha, and yet, there's the quotation she chose to go with my artwork. Phyllis would say this is a sign of validation. I just know that it feels right, and I'm sticking with it.
Coming soon: a new shadowbox called 'Flower Dance', featuring a pair of pink Charles Jourdan shoes that ROCK.
